Packaging

A. Wilcox (awilfox@) bumped OpenSSL to 1.0.2r, closing several CVEs. They added the dependencies of the IcedTea Java runtime environment, and OpenJDK 7.

Luis Ressel (aranea) added Python support to GPGME and corrected issues in its test suite. He additionally added a package for cmus.

The Platform Group unanimously decided to deprecate BusyBox. It has been removed from the user repository.

Kiyoshi Aman (aerdan@) bumped many packages, including the entirety of LXQt to 0.14.1.

General discussion

We are happy to announce that Java is now supported in Adélie Linux, on all tier 1 architectures! Currently, we are shipping Java 7 (based on IcedTea). Java 8 is expected to land soon.

Work is ongoing at adding support for Erlang. Currently, the Erlang VM fails its test suite on certain platforms. This is being investigated.

Additionally, GCC 8 support is rapidly progressing. Concurrent with this work, multiple intermittent build failures and circular dependencies across the system and user repositories have been fixed.
